As of January 10, 2024, the weather has given skiers some good news and some bad news:

First, the good news:

The good news is that we finally have enough snow to have groomed Nordic trails. On January 10, all trails at White Butte except Cherry Hills are groomed and open for skiing. Trails at Kinsmen Park, Douglas Park, and the Science Centre have been rolled and packed. Always check out our Trail Conditions pages for current conditions.

And the bad news:

The bad news is that it is extremely cold. This means that several events have been postponed (but not cancelled). Some examples:

  • The first Alpine Adaptive training session of the season, scheduled for Saturday, January 13, has been postponed to a future date to be determined. The first training session will now be the following Saturday, January 20. See Alpine Adaptive Events.
  • The Nordic bus trip to Duck Mountain Provincial Park, also scheduled for Saturday, January 13, has been cancelled. But it will be replaced by a trip to Moose Mountain Provincial Park (Kenosee) on Saturday, February 17. See Nordic Bus Trip Events.
  • Finally, a joint event at Echo Valley Provincial Park has been postponed from Saturday, January 27 to Saturday, February 10. It features a Nordic Ski / Snowshoe relay race, and free beginner lessons in both cross-country skiing and cross-country adaptive para-skiing. See Echo Valley Ski and Snowshoe Event.
