Virtual Loppets are discontinued
Virtual Loppets were organized to replace Nordic Bus Trips for two seasons for safety reasons due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Nordic Bus Trips are now reinstated for the, so the Virtual Loppets program will not be held this season. This page is retained in case you are interested in one of the ways the club dealt with the pandemic for the first two seasons.
Virtual Loppets
Each Virtual loppet participant set his or her own goal distance for each month, either for one day or the entire month or season. Registration was via the Zone4 website.
Each participant could ski anywhere, anytime, alone or with family or friends, keeping a record of the distance skied on each outing. At the end of each month, the monthly total was reported to coordinator Leona Spruyt.
Most participants joined the Facebook group, “Regina Ski Club Virtual Loppets” to share their experiences and photographs, and to see what others were doing.
Read on to see some of the skiing distances received, and to see some of the photos shared within the Facebook group. The virtual loppets were a great way to keep us motivated to ski and to enable us to share our experiences, even though we were not physically together in the bus or on the trails.
