SUN PEAKS FLY & SKI March 3 - 7
At 6:55 a.m. on March 3, 2010 eleven bleary-eyed skiers left the Regina airport bound for Kamloops, B.C. Two others joined us in Calgary from Montreal and Saskatoon. Our shuttle driver was waiting and we were quickly on our way to Nancy Green's Cahilty Lodge at Sun Peaks Ski Resort. After checking in, most of us headed out for a half day of skiing, in spite of the overcast skies and poor visibility, followed by exploring some of the many shops and finally gathering for supper.
The sun was out by noon on Thursday and stayed bright and clear through Friday and Saturday.
Thursday evening we enjoyed our traditional "Beer, Wine and Pizza Welcome Party" at Morrisey's Pub.
With temperatures around the zero mark we thoroughly enjoyed three and a half plus days of fun skiing. Most of us were excited to have tours of the ski hill conducted first by Al Raine, then Nancy Green-Raine.
At the various breakfast, lunch, dinner and shopping places in and around the village, ski stories were exchanged.
Sunday morning was cloudy and overcast but several went out for a quick farewell ski before checking out and boarding the shuttle for the airport.
Because of a long line-up at the airport we were late getting away but the pilot made up most of the lost time and we were home almost right on schedule.
I extend a special "THANK YOU" to SUNSHINE & SKI for the rental and tune-up specials and soft drinks.
Thank you, also, to all the friendly, helpful, co-operative and enthusiastic skiers. It was a pleasure to ski with you.
Ken Stovin.
P.S. All of us on the trip want to thank Ken for the planning time he put into this and making all the arrangements once we did arriveuntiol we were wer home in Regina. We appreciate it very much. Isy- on behalf of everyone.
